Foxfire

In the novel Foxfire, there is a group of friends that decide they want to become a girl gang.  This was very unheard of, but they loved the idea.  The characters so far are Madeleine Wirtz (Maddy-Monkey), who is skinny and has dark brown hair, Margaret Sadovsky (Legs) who is the leader of Foxfire, Bettie Siefried (Goldie) who was too old for her grade and was very tall, Loretta Maguire (Lana) who was tall and thin with platinum blonde hair, and Elizabeth O’Hagan (Rita) who was made fun of a lot because she was chubby. 
Most of these girls had grown up together and went to the same elementary school.  They live in upstate New York, and most of the girls have a hard life.  Rita is picked on a lot therefore her friends stick up for her.  Rita has to stay after school a lot with their math teacher Mr.Buttinger because she did not do well in class.  He made her feel uncomfortable so the girls vandalized his car and said very cruel things on it.  After that he never returned to the school.  This was one of the mischievous things the girls did, and they wrote Foxfire Revenge on the car, but no one knew what Foxfire was.
 Foxfire had come about on New Years day 1953, Legs had thought of the idea.  She decided that since they were such close friends they should make their own gang to watch out for one another.  That day they swore they would keep their gang secret.  They became Foxfire by taking an oath to swear to be sisters of Foxfire.  They made it official, tattooing themselves with an ice pick making a flame tattoo with red dye, and becoming blood sisters by using each others blood.
