Plot Summary of 2nd half: Emma and Harriet got very close with each other. In fact, Harriet basically moves into Hartfield and even gets her own bedroom. Harriet is not the sharpest knife in the draw so her first priority is obviously not school or education, Harriet wants to get married. Soon Mr. Elton makes it clear that it is not Harriet he loves, but it is Emma. Emma’s stepbrother and dear friend, Mr. Knightly thinks that Mr. Robert Martin is a great match for Harriet. And Mr. Elton clearly confused about this whole situation moves out of town and marries a girl there. After he leaves Harriet is very sad and Emma is left to comfort her. Now Emma feels she needs to find another man for her. But Emma starts to have a crush on Frank Churchill when he comes to town to see his father. Then we get introduced to Jane Fairfax. Jane is a beautiful girl and Emma begins to get very jealous of her, so Mr. Knightly defends Jane saying that she deserves compassion, unlike Emma does. Mr. Weston says he thinks that Mr. Knightly formed “romantic feelings” for Jane. And everyone also thinks that Frank Churchill and Emma have formed an attachment even though Emma sees him as a match for her friend Harriet. At the village dance, Emma convinces Mr. Knightly to dance with Harriet. Mr. Elton and his new wife have humiliated Harriet. Frank saved Harriet from a gypsy, and no Harriet says she has fallen in love with a man that is a higher class than her. Immediately Emma believes it is Frank. Mr. Knightly starts to see a connection between Frank and Jane so he warns Emma, but Emma doesn’t believe him. Soon the tragic news came that Frank’s aunt died. And this reveals many secrets. Frank and Jane have been engaged without anyone knowing. After Frank’s father’s approval he is now aloud to marry Jane as planned. The thing about this is Emma thinks that Harriet will be crushed. But she is not. It is Mr. Knightly that Harriet has fallen in love with not Frank. This makes Emma upset. But she learns that Knightly loves Emma. Harriet is crushed but then accepts another proposal from Mr. Martin, and Emma and Mr. Knightly live happily married.


Recommendation: I do not recommend this book to people my age. It was very hard to follow for me and truthfully I didn’t think it was a very good novel. This novel wouldn’t be good for especially boys because it is about love and romance and I don’t really think that interests boys very much. My rate from 1-10 is 3 ½
