Dracula

In Bram Stokers Dracula, a newly qualified English solicitor named John Harker travels from England to Count Dracula remote castle atop the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania.  He is sent to Dracula’s castle to oversee the legal aspects of a real-estate transaction for the Count.  Quickly Harker becomes entranced by the gracious and friendly hospitality Count Dracula shows him.  However this happiness quickly turn’s to fear as Harker discovers that he is actually a prisoner of Count Dracula, with no means of escape.  Eventually Harker begins to witness some of Dracula’s bizarre nocturnal qualities.  He sees the Count crawling down the castle wall like a lizard, and resting in a coffin during the day.  As he continues to investigate John Harker is nearly killed by three female vampires who are the counts mistresses.  At the last minute he is saved by Dracula, because the Count wants to keep Harker alive so he can learn as much about England and London as possible.  The Count then plans to travel there and pray-upon the millions of innocent English men and women. 

When Harker does eventually escape the Count’s castle he travels to Budapest where he marries his fiancée Mina.  In Budapest, Mina informers Harker of the encounter her friend Lucy Westerna had with Count Dracula.  People claimed that Lucy and her mother were walking through the woods at night when there were attacked and killed by a wolf.  However with the help and diagnosis of Abraham Van Helsing, the trio quickly realizes that Lucy has been turned into a vampire.  At night Lucy goes around terrorizing the town’s people, and waits for innocent traveler’s lurking in the forest.  To break the spell, Van Helsing and Lucy’s suitors track down Lucy and stake her through the heart and fill her beheaded head with garlic.  Count Dracula quickly takes a swift revenge and bites Mina, turning her into a vampire.  To save her John Harker, Van Helsing, and Lucy’s suitors travel back to Dracula’s castle in Transylvania where they confront him for the final time.  The curse on Mina is broken, as the groups of men kill Count Dracula by stabbing him thought the throat and heart with knives.  After the Count crumbles to dust the remaining two suitors along with Mina, John Harker, and Van Helsing, all return home safely to England.
