Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World, was born on the 26th of July, 1894 in Godalming, Surrey, England. Huxley was born into a high class family in England, but he stood out from most of them. He was more alert, had a higher intelligence, and was considered by his brother, superior. For this, he was loved and respected, not hated. Being different from others is in a way one of Aldous’ influences in writing Brave New World, that being different is the key to freedom. Huxley went on to write many other novels, including Island, which portrays a good utopia rather than the bad one revealed in Brave New World. On the 22nd of November, in 1963, Aldous Huxley died. He was cremated, his ashes were buried in his parents’ grave back in England.

Aldous Huxley seems like a good author. what genres is he known for writing. would you recommend any specific book to read?
ReplyDeletePat, Aldous Huxley appears to have an interesting topic for discussion about freedom in life and had a unique life. Did you know if he ever had sympathy for his brother? Also, how did his family become of a high class? Do you agree that the key to freedom is being different? I believe it is one of many components needed to be free.
