Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula and many other short stories and novels, was born
in Clontarf, Ireland on November 8, 1847. He had 6 siblings and was sick very often as a child. When he got older, Stoker went to Trinity college in Dublin, Ireland and majored in mathematics. He later joined the Civil Service like his father had. Stoker wrote screenplays and met many actors. He married Florence Balcombe, an actress, and moved to London, England. Stoker died in London on April 20, 1912. Some other novels by Bram Stoker include, "The Jewel of Seven Stars (1903), The Man (also titled The Gates of Life 1905), Lady Athlyne (1908), The Lady of the Shroud (1909), Famous Impostors (1910), and The Lair of the White Worm (1911)".

I never knew Dracula started off being a book, I always thought it started off as a movie and lead to other vampire movies. I've been afraid of vampires since I watched a scary movie when I was five.

ReplyDeleteI think Stoker was inspired by a man who was very similar to Dracula. He wasn't a vampire, but he drank blood and did other vampire-like things. I don't know his name but I've read about him somewhere.
