Gustave Flaubert was a French novelist who lived from 1821-1880. It is said that he wrote off of “observed facts and events”. Gustave Flaubert was born in Rouen, France. He lived with his father who was a doctor and his mother who was a physician’s daughter. He also lived with his sister and his brother. Sadly his sister died while giving birth and Gustave and his mother took her daughter in and raised her together. When Gustave was fifteen he married a girl named Elisa Schlésinger. Unfortunately Gustave had a brain disorder and had seizures, because of this he quit his legal studies and decided that he would concentrate on his writing, where he could always find peace. Later on in his life he died of cerebral hemorrhage which is bleeding in the brain tissue. Some novels you may know by Gustave Flaubert are Madame Bovary, A Sentimental Education, and Three Tales.
